Soil Stabilization in English

Soil Stabilization   What is Soil Stabilization? It is the process of improving the engineering properties of soil (like strength, bearing capacity, and durability) to make it fit for construction. Core Methods of Soil Stabilization 1. Mechanical Stabilization Soil Blending: Mixing two different types of soils (e.g., Sand + Clay) to achieve a well-graded mixture. Compaction: Using rollers or rammers to compact the soil at OMC (Optimum Moisture Content) to achieve MDD (Maximum Dry Density) by removing air voids. 2. Chemical Stabilization (Using Admixtures) Cement Stabilization: Adding 5% to 14% Portland cement. Best for sandy/granular soils . It binds particles to give high early strength. Lime Stabilization: Adding 3% to 10% lime (chuna). Best for expansive clay (Black Cotton Soil) . It reduces the soil's plasticity and swelling potential. Bitumen Stabilization: Adding 4% to 7% liquid asphalt/bitumen. Best for coarse sands . It acts as a waterproofing agent and binder. F...

Rocks: in English:Origin, Formation & Classification | Diploma Civil Engineering |

What is a Rock? Rocks are the solid blocks that form the Earth's outer crust. Simply put, a rock is a natural mixture of one or more minerals. 1. Geological Classification (How Rocks are Born) In geology, rocks are divided into three main types based on how they are formed. Igneous Rocks — "Born from Fire" How they form: Deep inside the Earth, there is red-hot liquid rock called magma. When this magma cools down and turns solid, it forms Igneous rocks. Intrusive (Plutonic): Magma that cools down deep inside the earth very slowly. Because it cools slowly, it forms big crystals. Example: Granite (used in kitchen countertops). Extrusive (Volcanic): Magma that bursts out as lava and cools rapidly on the surface . Example: Basalt (used in road construction). Sedimentary Rocks — "Born from Layers" How they form: Rain, wind, and sun break old rocks into tiny pieces (sediments). Rivers carry this loose debris and deposit it in layers at the bottom of lakes or o...

Rocks: Origin, Formation & Classification |
